Where It All Began

Located in the heart of Santa Monica, California, Berkeley Street Studios is a one-of-a-kind immersive music venue and creative environment where world-class artists and award-winning technology come together under one roof.

The spacious studio has hosted legendary performances and recordings from some of music's most iconic names — including The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish & Finneas, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty, Weezer, and many more. In addition to private sessions and artist showcases, the studio has become known for live performances — including a celebrated series produced in collaboration with KCRW.

Betty Bennett

Betty Bennett founded Apogee Electronics in 1985, establishing the company as a pioneer in digital audio conversion and recording technology. Under her leadership for over 40 years, Apogee earned multiple TEC Awards and became known worldwide for products used in the world's top studios.

In 2005, Bennett collaborated with Bob Clearmountain to transform unused space in Apogee's Santa Monica headquarters into a world-class recording studio and performance venue — combining decades of technical innovation with a singular creative vision.

Bob Clearmountain

Described by Sound on Sound as having "his name on more hit records than anyone else in the history of popular music," Bob Clearmountain is credited with establishing the role of mixing engineer as we know it today. Working from Studio M — his personal Mix This! studio at Berkeley Street — Bob has mixed for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Fire Aid, the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, and the Grammy Award-winning Bryan Ferry Atmos record.

His eight Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, TEC Les Paul Award (1991), TEC Lifetime Achievement Award (1992), Music Producers Guild Icon Award (2023), and honorary doctorate from Berklee NYC (2025) represent decades of sustained excellence at the very top of the craft.

Working alongside the studio's world-class equipment and the legacy of Bob Clearmountain, Brandon ensures every project receives the highest level of technical and creative attention.

With years of experience across genres and formats, Brandon is the steady hand that makes every session run smoothly — whether it's a solo acoustic session, a full band live recording, or a Dolby Atmos mix.
